PUPPIES AVAILABLE!!!!!
While the Malinois shares a common foundation with the Belgian Sheep Dog and Belgian Tervuren, the Malinois with its many coat colors and lengths quickly establishes itself as an identifiable type. This dog can be described as Energy in Motion. The Malinois's distinct character has enabled it to become one of, if not the most versatile working dogs of its time.
The workaholic personality, however makes him hard on the body of his handler as well as his own. Originally bred around the city of Mechelen (also known as Malines, Belgian) from where the named is derived, the Belgian Malinois was bred by a dedicated group of trainers and working competitors. Because of this, the Malinois has historically been the favorite type of Belgian Shepard in its native Belgian. Today the Malinois is still a superior competition dog, and quite frankly in my opinion not recommended for those who want a dog to lie around the house or as a backyard ornament. The Malinois wants to do something and his owner can either provide it for him or suffer the consequences of watching him create his own pastimes. A well balanced pup with high drives and a clear understanding of the behavior you desire is the ideal state for living and working with the Malinois. His keen intelligence increases this breeds trainability; so stay sharp! Theyve been known to out think their handlers. If during your training you find yourself challenged with a problem, try alternatives to compulsion with this breed. They love to please, however due to this, they can be handler sensitive. This sensitivity can range from totally shutting down to biting you to avoid the pressure of conflict. Understanding the Malinois character and capitalizing on their physical abilities, high drive, trainability, keen intelligence, high energy and desire to be with and please their owner, has enabled many owners to find sheer pleasure in training their Belgian Malinois for conformation, agility, obedience, herding, sledding, tracking, detection and sport work involving protection. ![]()
